Francis Kwarteng, M.D.


Dr. Francis Kwarteng joined Albany Area Primary Health Care when it took over the midwifery practice that Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital had started to assist with the availability of obstetrical services to the residents of southwest Georgia. AAPHC began operating the practice in 2009 and Dr. Kwarteng had been employed by Phoebe for one year prior to this transition. He came to Albany after residency training at Howard University in Washington, DC. Dr. Kwarteng completed his medical degree in his home country of Ghana in 1996. When his schedule permits, he travels to Ghana to spend time with his family who still resides there. Dr. Kwarteng is married and has 4 children.

Keisha R. Callins, MD

Keisha Callins, M.D., M.P.H.


Dr. Keisha Reneé Callins is a women's health and public health professional and the only female Obstetrician and Gynecologist with Albany Area Primary Health Care (AAPHC). Her practice focuses exclusively on women's health and  health behavior, and she is beloved by her patients and peers for the passion she demonstrates in caring for her patients. Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Dr. Callins earned a B.A. in Biology at the University of Virginia in 1998, an MPH from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2000, and a MD from Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) in 2007, as a National Health Corp Scholar awarded to a select number of exceptional students by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Terry, Clare, CNM AAPHC Women's Provider

Clare Terry, CNM


Clare Terry was born in New Orleans, LA but lived most of her childhood in Maryland. She spent time in Florida as well before relocating to Georgia when she got married. Clare trained thoroughbred race horses before getting into the medical field. She graduated from Frontier Nursing University ( formerly The Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing), after being a labor and delivery nurse for 20 years. Clare loves working with women and helping them through their pregnancy and delivery.

Cori Gilkey, CNM


Cori Gilkey, CNM, has joined AAPHC as a Certified Nurse Midwife at the Mirian Worthy Women’s Health Center.   Gilkey earned her degree in Nursing from Santa Fe College and her Masters of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University.  She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, reading, knitting, beekeeping, organic gardening, and spending time with her family.

Elois Edge, CNM, CLC, MSN


Elois Edge’s journey to midwifery began in 1978 as a labor & delivery registered nurse, then nurse manager. I journeyed from Darton College (ABN) to Georgia Southwestern (BSN) to Case Western University (MSN), and finally to a midwifery destination at Frontier School of Nurse Midwifery and Family Nursing in 1998 (CNM). The employment road has taken her from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to Adams & Woods, P.C., to Phoebe Midwifery Clinic and now to AAPHC and the Mirian Worthy Women’s Health Center where she serves our female population. Through this midwifery journey Mrs. Edge has delivered approximately 2000 babies. Her husband, Dr. Bill Edge, Sr. (35 years of marriage) and she are blessed with two boys: Bill Edge, Jr. and Joshua Allen Edge. They are further blessed with two grandchildren. Her motto is “love and laughter heals all.”

Mock, Maria, CNM AAPHC Women's Provider

Maria Mock, CNM


After working as a registered nurse in labor & delivery as well as serving as nurse manager for a number of years, Maria Mock obtained her midwifery certification from Frontier School of Midwifery and a Master’s from Case Western Reserve University. She has also served as an instructor in the nursing program at Darton College. After working with Phoebe Women’s Services, Ms. Mock joined AAPHC in 2009. She has two daughters and one grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
