April 2, 2019 - The Albany (GA) Chapter of The Links, Inc, recently presented AAPHC with a donation of $3,000. The funds were raised at the annual “Cupcakes and Cocktails for a Cure” event that took place in January.
The event raises awareness for breast cancer, as well as promoting mammograms for early detection of breast cancer. The event also celebrated the life and memory of Dr. Sonya Taylor Acree, who was a member of the Chapter and a Provider with AAPHC.
The donation supports a program developed by AAPHC to provide free mammograms to patients. As a Community Health Center, AAPHC ensures that everyone - including patients without insurance - receive medical care and important health exams. These funds will ensure more patients can receive access to care and mammograms.
“A large part of what makes these free screenings available are the partnerships with so many of our community groups,” says Betsy Powell, Director of Nursing, AAPHC. “We appreciate the Albany Chapter of The Links and Phoebe Putney Health System for being our partners to ensure our community members receive high quality and affordable health care. These screenings are so important in detecting cancer early.”
Our community is stronger when we all work together to improve the health care for our Southwest Georgia residents.
